Caorle

Wonderful seaside village is located between the mouth of Livenza and Lemene, overlooking the Adriatic Sea to the north east of the Lagoon of Venice.

Caorle is a very hospitable city and populated not only in summer but also in the cold months. Do not miss the New Yearís party in December in the square with live music and entertainment.

Do not miss the promenade consist of many sculptures on the rocks and then get to the spectacular sanctuary of the Madonna dell ëAngelo.

Every year take place ìAlive Cliffî a wonderful annual competition, which they are called sculptors from different nationalities to decorate the rocks of the seafront.

 

SANCTUARY OF MADONNA DELL’ANGELO:

The story said that the construction of this beautiful church is the signal of the first moves of Concordia to the coastal areas, as barbarians occupied the internals areas.

The sanctuary was the first religious building of Caorle. The first building was a basilica with three naves. One was always endanger by the sea. During a flood of the sixties, the water has reached half the height of the front door without entering the sanctuary. Since that time, it has become a place of pilgrimage for many believers and faithful.Every five years there is the manifestation of the Virgin Mary, which is carried in procession by seawater parade from the dock of the city, across the river Livenza into with a stop on the beach near the sanctuary.
