The Restaurant

The restaurant is our flagship, the core from which Hotel Alla Botte has developed.

Our Story

In the late 1960s, where the hotel now stands, Nello and Alma opened a small emporium and a bar that were also a gathering place thanks to the presence of TV, which at the time was still a luxury for the few. As the years went by, the bar expanded, becoming in the late 1960s an open-air establishment where grilled meat was cooked and where wine could be drunk, which was tapped from the giant barrel that can still be seen in the restaurant’s courtyard.

It was in 1972 that the restaurant was born in all respects, named after that very barrel and offering traditional dishes related to local products while respecting the seasonal offering.

A few decades have passed but the substance hasn’t changed much!

Even today, we are still deeply connected to the area in which we live, local products and seasonal offerings. That is why we choose ingredients typically produced or raised in the area with a preference for meat and vegetables and re-propose in a modern way the recipes that have made the taste of Veneto-Friuli cuisine of our hinterland renowned.

Homemade pasta, farmyard products, cookies and desserts from our own production provide an opportunity to lunch or dine in Portogruaro with taste, quality and lightness.

On the menu you can find lots of items ranging from a single dish to a full menu with appetizers, main courses, side dishes, and desserts.

The wine proposal is also varied, but always linked to the territory: since we are located in the large area between Veneto and Friuli of production of the Lison-Pramaggiore DOC wine, we cannot fail to match the dishes of our cuisine with intense red wines such as Merlot, Cabernet, and Refosco, or with more delicate white wines such as Chardonnay or golden Verduzzo, obviously coming from the nearby wineries that we have carefully selected.

In honor of Nonna Alma, who was the soul of our kitchen for many, many years, we named a new reality after her that we integrated with our traditional restaurant.

Bistrot Nonna Alma wants to give everyone a chance to eat a quick meal without commitment always with the tastes of typical home cooking.

Suitable for in Quick Break for lunch break, meeting with work colleagues and maybe a few friends.

In an informal but at the same time well-kept manner is at your disposal the Bistrò for the most important occasions our Ristorante alla Botte remains a reference point where you can taste typical products, cooked with care always under the banner of tradition.
